Dance Practitioner

I am a Japanese dance artist, qualified Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist and Butoh practitioner.  I enjoy pushing the boundaries of dance performance, working in collaboration to create multidisciplinary work. Having a solid foundation in Classical and Contemporary dance, I previously worked professionally in Musical Theatre in Japan. Moving to the U.K. broadened my dance practice. I subsequently performed in Butoh companies throughout Europe. Most recently I performed at the Venice Biennale.

From step-based routines to sensory-based freestyle, I teach dance in various settings working with adults, including older people and adults with learning disabilities. I encourage individual expression and I strongly believe in a connection between creativity and wellbeing.
